"These canvases are destined to be internationally celebrated."
- Nicole Laffont, Art Critic, Nice Matin, France
Born to Russian emigre parents, Uranovsky studied at Michaelis School of Fine Art (UCT). Influenced by German Expressionism, his first one-man show opened to rave reviews, and was sold out within a week. Other equally successful shows followed, and he won numerous prizes and awards, including a postgraduate bursary to study at Hayter's Atelier 17 in Paris. After a visit to New York, Vorpal Gallery showed his paintings at the opening of their new premises in Soho.
He exhibited in France at the invitation of the Musees de Nice, where he was awarded L'Aigle de Bronze at the Grand Prix International d'Arts Plastiques. His last show in South Africa also drew rave reviews. He has been living and working in New York City since 1996, where he has shown at several different galleries, and has also exhibited his work in Paris at the Galerie Celal, and in Cape Town at the Die Kunskamer.
Uranovsky was honored by the Bronx Borough President for his contribution to the art and culture of The City of New York, and The Bronx in particular.
